Last weekend we celebrated Zoey’s third birthday. We had her party at our pool. It is a nice and big gradual incline pool that is great for young kids. It was a princess themed part with various Disney characters o n the plates and table cloth.
Just this last month Zoey has decided she loves going under the water. She can spend an hour straight “diving” for superheros (our dive toys :)).
She also loves jumping to daddy from the side of the pool. But up until last Saturday she insisted on holding my hands for the jump. At her party though she realized she could jump all by herself. She is all about process, and once she learns a new one she is like a machine! She must have spent 30 minutes straight jumping into the pool, walking to the steps, getting out of the pool and jumping back in. No pauses, no hesitation, 30 minutes straight, giggling the whole time. She hasn’t worked up the courage to jump off the diving board, but I bet if she sees Zack do it a couple more times she will be game.
Zack continues to grow gills/fins and turn into a fish. He likes to push off the wall, swim a couple feet and dive for his dive toys (torpedo’s). All with one breath. I think his best is about 12 feet out and ~3 feet deep. Just this weekend he also started treading water for more then three seconds. I bet by the end of the year he will be swimming in the deep end without help.
