Today I am 30

Friday, August 25th, 2006

On reflection I have had a really good decade. I graduated from college, got a “real job”, bought a house or two, married an amazing woman, and was blessed with two (and a half) wonderful children. It brings a smile to my face.

Thanks to my family and friends for a wonderful 3rd decade. I hope to have more :)

10lb’s 11oz

Sunday, August 20th, 2006

Last Friday a brown truck dropped of 10lb’s 11oz of joy. I bought a used Canon 1D. It is a monsterous camera which weighs well over 3lbs with lens and battery. It shoots at 8fps and you could probably hammer nails with the frame.

At any rate, I love it. The viewfinder is huge and (compared to my old camera). You can actually tell if your subject is in focus! There is no shutter lag. And the autofocus really works!
So I have been having alot of fun this weekend playing with my new toy. Check out the new galleries:

Oh, by the way, anyone want to buy a 300D?

Mimi’s 80th Birthday

Tuesday, August 1st, 2006

We took a long weekend to celebrate Mimi’s birthday in Virigina at Dorian’s place. It was a great get together and it was a chance to see many faces I had not seen in a very long time.

I took a ton of pictures. I separated them into family pictures and pictures of Dorian’s AMAZING garden. Check them out!

Zoey’s Speech

Tuesday, August 1st, 2006

After getting tubes in Zoey’s ears her speech has really picked up. It is funny how much different two kids with the same parents can be. Tonight Zoey said “Mama, I saw a bunny!”. The interesting point for me is the “I”. It is the first time I have heard her refer to herself as “I”. I don’t remmember exactly when Zack started using “I”, but it was probabaly about 6 months later then Zoey. I think it is probably that Zack taught her “mine” at such an early age :)

Last weekend the family was at the pool. Off hand I asked Zack if he wanted to jump off of the diving board. To my suprise he imediately said “yes” and quickly got out of the water and headed off to the diving board.

I was really scared treading water in the deep end, looking up at my 3 year old son standing on the end of the diving board. But almost without hesitation he jumped in! He did a canonball, and when we made it to the side of the pool he was chattering away about it. I am not even sure where he figured out what a canonball is, but he had great form :)

I didn’t try to catch him out of the air, I let him sink all the way into the water. He loved it! I think he jumped in 3 more times before I couldn’t take it anymore :)
